Sound Stylists has made an exciting investment in MA Lighting for the first time! This Johannesburg-based technical supply company recently expanded with a new branch in Cape Town in April. Now, they proudly possess a grandMA3 light which will also be available for cross rental.

“I believe the significant shift towards MA Lighting in the  South African industry owes much to DWR for being so good at selling and supporting their products, there is a lot we can learn in the way they do business,” Kevin Glover, owner of Sound Stylists, shares with a smile. “These days, like many other rental companies, we heavily rely on freelance lighting designers and operators, and the demand for MA consoles has been consistently high. MA has always been a leading choice, and over time, the console has only improved, solidifying its dominance in the market. We anticipate at least a decade of use since we acquired the grandMA3 Light. Our next move will involve acquiring another one for our Cape Town branch.”

DWR’s Kevin Stannett comments, “I think MA is the benchmark control system globally and in South Africa. It’s great that Sound Stylists have joined the MA3 family. Thank you!”

The Sound Stylists team are equally enthusiastic, and it’s fantastic to receive their feedback. There’s no holding back lighting technician Koketso Senyolo who adds, “The console is amazing, the features are out of this world. While I haven’t had the chance to use it on a show yet, I’ve set it up and spent some time practising. It’s undoubtedly one of MA’s finest creations.”

Technical Manager at the group, Carel du Plessis, adds, “It’s a good looking, well made and compact console. Already it has been on a number of shows and the demand is increasing.  I’m sure it will bring us much joy and success and won’t be the only MA product on our shelves.”

With the future in mind, Kevin’s son, Nick Glover, is engaged in the financial aspect of the company. He emphasizes, “We look at what people want in the market and try to meet their needs because customer satisfaction is everything to us. We’re pleased to have acquired this console.”

Meanwhile in the Mother City, Sound Stylists has expanded its operations with a new office spearheaded by Donald Clarke, who needs little introduction. Kevin ends, “Donald’s busy getting the office going and spreading the news. Being a local, he’s got a solid grasp on the market and industry connections, so it’s a natural fit. We kicked off trading on April 1st, and, if anyone’s in need of a forklift rental, we’ve got that covered too!”
