South African country music duo, The Campbells, recently purchased 10 Robe Club 250 Scanners and a Le Maitre Hazer.
Hardworking brothers, Tony and Harry Campbell, who recently won the SAMA “Best Sokkie Dance Album of the Year” for their CD Mamma Maria, perform 120 shows a year. “Winning a SAMA cements our place in the South African Music industry and makes us feel that our music is having a positive impact,” commented Tony Campbell. From Mondays to Thursdays The Campbells keep occupied with various projects in their studio while weekends are reserved for touring. They travel, with the assistance of two crew hands, over 50 000 kilometres per annum, crossing SA borders to reach fans in Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and have even performed in Australia.
Ten years ago, when signing up with Select Music, the Campbell Brothers officially became The Campbells. They are on the road with their own gear comprising of a Yamaha Digital Desk with Lab Gruppen amps and Community Loudspeakers. Lighting and AV is controlled by Show Magic Software and they run up to 4 lighting universes, 3 video screens and 32 audio tracks.
For many years
their kit included Futurelight scanners. “Futurelight was made by Robe and never let us down,” explained Tony. “We decided to convert all our scanners to Robe, mostly for the sake of reliability.” 
The Club Scan 250s work out particularly well due to their size. “They create a lot of light in a small versatile package,” said Tony. “Most scanners have the same functions, but these scanners do the basics so well. The rig includes four x 1 kilowatt PAR 64s with colour correction filters for front white lighting while the ten new Robe Club Scan 250s are used for ambient and effect lighting. “We also acquired a Le Maitre Hazer, which works fantastic with the lighting.”
The Campbells visited DWR Distribution for the first time last year when they required a mirror part. When it was time to replace their existing equipment they popped in and were assisted by Dan Riley. “The service is supreme,” commented Tony. “When we heard that Futurelight had ceased to exist then Robe was the logical upgrade solution. I know our relationship with DWR will be a long one.”
