Carnival City Casino and Entertainment World, a popular entertainment destination in the East Rand of Johannesburg South Africa, recently upgraded their entertainment facilities with a dot2 XL-F, StageDex and power distribution equipment, all purchased from DWR Distribution.

Three venues within the casino now run on the MA Lighting platform creating a uniform system that is easy to manage and work on. “We already have a grandMA light in The Big Top Arena, and a dot 2 core in the Applause Venue which caters for small bands, comedy acts, live DJs, press launches and media activations,” explained Alix van der Walt from INHOUSE Venue Technical Management (IVTM) at Carnival City. “It was easy to make a decision to invest in the dot2 XL-F, which is a versatile and user-friendly console that will accommodate the diverse shows that run in the Mardi Gras Theatre ranging from long-running theatre productions to live bands and live event press conferences.”

The dot2 XL-F is a compact lighting console designed for small to medium-sized productions up to 4,096 control channels. Intuitive operation is the core of the dot2 philosophy and with a comprehensive set of connectivity hardware on all console models, the dot2 range is suitable for most theatre, touring, corporate, television and education lighting environments.

Jannie de Jager from DWR  delivered the console. “Jannie is an absolute pleasure to work with, always willing to help, and he made sure that all our profiles for the venue were pre-loaded and ready to go on delivery,” added Alix.

Prolyte StageDex consisting of various configurations and a wide assortment of legs, rails, stairs and skirting will be used in The Big Top Arena, Carnival City’s main venue.  “StageDex is synonymous for their sturdiness and reliability, making this a good investment in terms of safety,” commented Schalk Botha of DWR.

Carnival City is a multi-purpose venue and their stages, that have set the scene for some unforgettable moments, required high-quality power distribution to accommodate a variety of applications. DWR have a large catalogue of distros available for professional audio, rental, staging and installation markets and Alix along with the IVTM support team decided on 3 x Dewy II 63A 3-Phase Distros,  12 x Fat Albert Socapex Distros, one Huey 63A 3-Phase Distro, 6 x Beavis 32A 3-Phase Distro, and a Louie II Distro.
