The Big Top Arena at Carnival City in Brakpan was filled to capacity as Lebo Sekgobela recorded her highly anticipated album ‘Kept by Grace’ on March 9. The atmosphere was electric, the audience on their feet during the lively praise and the deeply spiritual worship moments. Murangi Productions provided the full technical for the production which was lit by Ntando Mvalo.
The lighting rig, controlled by MA Lighting’s grandMA2 full size, predominantly featured Robe fixtures including 8 x miniPointes, 8 Pointes, 12 x LEDBeam 350s, 12 LEDBeam 150s, 12 x LEDBeam 100s, 6 x LEDWash 300s and 12 x LEDWash 600s. The Claypaky range comprised 12 x Axcor Beam 300s and 8 x Sharpys.
Hendrick Nemalili, director at Murangi Productions, had nothing but praise for the team who made the event a success acknowledging the collaborative effort. He extended congratulations to Victor Lusunzi and his team for the audio technical support and Sipho Tshabalala for ensuring excellence on the AV side which included a 14m x 4m LED Wall used for a backdrop on stage and two 6m x 3m side screens for the live feed, coupled with two 4m x 1m LED banners at front of the stage all running via Resolume.
“Ntando Mvalo impressed us with his clean and polished lighting,” Hendrick remarked. “He was definitely on top of his game, from plotting the lights to running the entire show. His performance was outstanding, and it’s truly inspiring to see a young LD like him taking charge at an event of this calibre.”
In response, Ntando commented, “This was the best show yet for me! I’m thrilled to have been trusted with an opportunity to expand my skills in both lighting design and managing a large-scale show like this one. It was awesome!”
