Keystone Productions Invests in First LED Screen with Absen NT1.9 V2

Itโ€™s an exciting new chapter for Justin and Jonathan le Roux, owners of Keystone Productions, who have taken delivery of their first ever LED Display panels. After carefully waiting for a solution that would meet their broadcast and event requirements, the company has invested in the Absen NT1.9 V2, supplied by DWR Distribution, and their team has completed comprehensive training to ensure confident operation.

โ€œA large part of our work is technical supply for broadcast, so resolution and pixel pitch are critical,โ€ explained Justin Le Roux. โ€œOn camera and during live streaming, the difference in clarity between a 1.9 mm and a 2.9 mm screen is significant.โ€

Established in 2003 and based in Johannesburg, Keystone Productions is a full-service technical supply company supporting events across audio, audiovisual, lighting, effects, and set design, from concept through to build and show delivery. Adding LED to the mix has been a long time coming.

Their decision was further influenced by growing client demand. โ€œOne of our clients had recently seen high-resolution LED and asked when we would be able to offer it. Previously, we always hired-in from other companies. It was imminent that we would go this route, but it was all about the right product and the right timing.โ€

Needless to say, the Keystone crew are amped! โ€œBecause weโ€™ve never owned LED panels before, it’s a completely new experience for the crew,โ€ said Justin. โ€œThereโ€™s naturally some nervousness, but for me, there could be nothing more exciting than buying high-resolution LED. AV is where itโ€™s at.โ€

Before taking delivery, Keystoneโ€™s team took part in training presented by Dylan Jones at DWR Distribution. โ€œEveryone participated, including our set department,โ€ Justin noted. โ€œItโ€™s important that the entire crew understands how the units work, how theyโ€™re built, and how they integrate into different environments.โ€

He also pointed out that LED is important for more than just visuals. โ€œLED often forms part of the scenic design, particularly in studio environments where it serves as a dynamic backdrop. Understanding both the creative and practical applications ensures we can fully maximise its potential for video, presentations, and multimedia.โ€

Dylan Jones has worked with the Keystone team for many years and is thrilled for them. โ€œItโ€™s fantastic that they can work alongside other rental companies that have invested in the same batch, creating opportunities for cross-rental and ensuring consistency when larger quantities of LED are needed. This helps elevate the overall standard of LED deployment in South Africa. Thank you for your support.โ€

Jonathan and Justin add, โ€œWe are elated, as we havenโ€™t made a significant new investment in quite some time. For us, this represents the latest technology, and the opportunities it opens up are extensive. Once itโ€™s in the market and our clients see what we can do with it, weโ€™re confident it will take us from strength to strength.โ€

The Absen NT1.9 V2 Indoor Series is a new rental LED display made for corporate events, auto shows, and broadcast rentals. It features better impact resistance, a lighter design, and faster installation.
