grandMA3 onPC DMX-key starters for the Gearhouse Kentse Mpahlwa Academy

MA Lighting has created a wonderful and cost-effective opportunity for young learners and lighting designers to be exposed to the MA Platform with the introduction of grandMA3 onPC DMX-key starters.

In South Africa, DWR Distribution has seen the potential and donated six grandMA3 onPC DMX-key starters to the Gearhouse Kentse Mpahlwa Academy in Johannesburg. The handover took place with Kenneth Kibiruof MA Lighting, on the DWR Village during Mediatech.

Every year, the Gearhouse Kentse Mpahlwa Academy opens doors for aspiring technicians looking to build a career in the live events industry. Through its free, full-time training programme offered in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, students gain practical experience with a solid understanding of the professional standards and safety requirements expected in the world of technical production.

“There are so many technicians who received an excellent foundation and start their career thanks to the Gearhouse Kentse Mpahlwa Academy, a one of its kind in South Africa,” said Duncan Riley of DWR Distribution. “We have donated six grandMA3 on PC DMX-key starters, so there are a few to go around. We look forward to seeing the students exposed to the MA3 platform.”

This powerful compact USB device unlocks the full potential of the free-of-charge grandMA3 onPC software, providing 1 024 parameters via two DMX outputs without compromising on features or functionality. Designed as the perfect first step for the new generation of lighting designers, programmers and creative minds, the grandMA3 onPC DMX-key starter is the ideal introduction to lighting design, preparing students for professional workflows from day one.

Said Jaques Pretorius, Technical Support at DWR Distribution, “This is a great way of getting to know the MA platform and will prepare the students for the world outside of the classroom from a console perspective. Students will be taken through the basic operations and they will also be encouraged to sign up for MA Lighting’s E-learning platform that utilises a combination of tutorial videos, multiple choice and quiz questions to delve deeper into the world of MA products.”
