DWR Distribution is delighted to present Theatre Audio Training, a brand-new workshop presented by sound engineer Christo Davis whose exciting career has spanned over 20 years as a FOH operator for shows like Blue Man Group, Jersey Boys, The Phantom of the Opera and The Lion King. Join us on 14 February from 9 am to 4 pm at Gearhouse Splitbeam and kindly note that seats are limited to 12 delegates.

“Travelling with various shows over the years, I have come to realise that there is a lack of real-life experience when it comes to finding good operators in theatres,” said South African born Christo Davis. “There is also a lack of understanding of what is required to be a good theatre operator, even amongst seasoned professionals. When I finished working on Harry Potter in Australia during 2019, I felt like I wanted to do more to contribute to the industry in a meaningful way and help guide young sound engineers to become highly skilled theatre operators. I experienced a real lack of ‘knowledge sharing’ amongst engineers, and this is my contribution to rectifying the situation. This workshop will hopefully be the first step on that journey.”

The cost is R600 per person and includes a light lunch.

The course will be held at Gearhouse Splitbeam, 18 Lang Street, Bezuidenhout Valley, Johannesburg.
