Bloemfontein-based technical supplier Creative Kilowatt stepped up the city’s event tech game with the purchase of 120 Absen NT3.9 outdoor LED panels — the first of their kind in the region — along with four Prolyte MPT Towers (H40V) and four Chainmaster D8 (500kg) hoists, all supplied by DWR Distribution. The gear has been hard at work ever since, deployed at events such as the CaseIH launch, Bloem Show and Eunice High School’s 150th anniversary.
“This is our first LED screen and the first professional one in Bloemfontein,” says owner Stefan van Biljon. “It’s a big step for us, but the response has already been amazing.”

The 30sqm screen, ideal for both indoor and outdoor events, made its debut at the national launch of CaseIH, and particularly their new Steiger 715 Quadtrac Tractor. “The screen blew everyone away — we ran it at just 20% brightness, and it was incredible,” Stefan comments. For the CaseIH launch, the client supplied high-res videos not just of their latest tractor, but quality HD content for all their machines. “The Absen LED Panels have changed the way we approach events. It was a wonderful experience, and the clients were in awe. I’ve done these kinds of events for many years, but LED is very new to us. It still feels unreal and adds a fresh dynamic.”

The purchase included Absen training from Dylan Jones at DWR, equipping the Creative Kilowatt team with the knowledge to maximise their new gear. “Support was a key factor for me,” Stefan explains. “There are lots of screens out there with issues — lines, dead pixels, poor colour — but I needed a product with strong local backup. I didn’t want to rely on shipping equipment overseas for repairs.”

Creative Kilowatt also took delivery of four Prolyte MPT Towers and Chainmaster D8 hoists — another first for Bloemfontein, assisted throughout the process by Andrea Fowler from DWR. “This gear gives us the infrastructure to support larger outdoor LED setups and makes things safer and more efficient,” Stefan adds.

“It’s not just a roof — it’s a solid support structure for our outdoor LED events,” Stefan says. “As for the motors, I used to rely on chain blocks that had to be certified every year for licensing. It’s a huge relief to finally have this upgrade.”

For DWR Distribution, the partnership is particularly meaningful. “Stefan’s been a loyal client for many years,” says Dylan Jones of DWR. “It’s exciting to see him take this leap, and we can’t wait to see what this upgrade will mean for productions in Bloemfontein. Thank you for your support.”
