While Covid-19 has tested the endurance of every person and company in the live events industry across the world, UK-based Eddie Zych from CableJoG has used this time to design and produced new cable testers and is pleased to announce the USBjog and the AudioJoG Rack 19 range.
With a proven track record in taking electronic product ideas into mass production, Eddie is the founder, designer, and director at CableJoG Ltd, established in 2003 and based in Warrington. The company is also known for supplying Go Kart remote controls.
“It had always been my intention to launch the AudioJoG Rack 19s at last year’s PLASA show but that was canceled due to the pandemic,” Eddie explains. “Fortunately, we had stock of the day-to-day testers, and with sales about 60% down on the previous year, I had time to design and produce new items.”
First up is the extremely useful USBjog, which by its name tests USB Cables. “It’s surprising how many different ways there are to wire a USB cable!” says Eddie. The USBjog features two rows of 6 LEDs corresponding to each of the possible connector pins and one for the screen or ground connection. As each pin is activated, the LEDs indicate all connections associated with that pin, so that short, open and crossed circuits can be easily found. The LEDs also show the possibility of high resistance or leakage connections.
During the past year, Eddie has also expanded his AudioJoG Rack 19 range of testers which test Socapex 19 pin cables with fan in or fan out versions. “The AudioJoG Rack 19 range enables one press of the test button to test Socapex cables, identifying 18 and 19 pin versions,” he explains. “Added to the straight cables we have the ability to test fan in and fan out looms. Due to the mechanical size of these connectors it wouldn’t be practical to fit all the versions into one tester, so the AudioJoG Rack 19 range splits into fan in and fan out versions. Each AudioJoG Rack 19 comes with 6 powerCON or powerCON True 1 connectors. There is also the option of adding 16 Amp Blue C Forms. 3u instrument cases are available for housing the AudioJoG Rack 19 and 6u cases for the tester and with C Forms. Each AudioJoG Rack 19 runs on rechargeable batteries and come with a 12 Volt power supply/charger.”
