With creativity at her core, Belinda Saville from Durban recently launched Bee Events, an online broadcasting service for conferences, weddings, performances and funerals to help both the general public and corporate clients.
It’s her personal touch that has made Belinda a respected event and projects manager over the past twenty years. Besides her eye for detail and professional approach, Belinda has an enormous heart and is often one of the first to raise funds for someone in need. She played an instrumental role in rallying up the Durban rental technical supply companies to participate in #LightSAred during 2020, and over the last few years, has stood by the SOS Charity Fund to help people in the entertainment industry during their hour of need.
During the Covid-19 period, the live events industry had to reinvent itself. “No one had an inkling that the initial lockdown in South Africa would impact the entertainment industry for almost a year,” she recalls. “I had bought a house and the transfer came through on 28 March 2020!” The house was a fixer-upper and Belinda moved in, pulled up her sleeves, and set to work repairing the ceilings and painting the walls. In the back of her mind, she believed she’d be back in the office in no time at all, even if it meant on a smaller scale.
As the weeks turned into months, Belinda joined the #LightSAred movement, a campaign that saw 505 buildings lit in red across South Africa on the 5th August to remind the country that the live events industry had not had works since the start of the year. In October, live events were given the green light, the government stipulating a maximum of 500 guests for outdoor events and 250 guests for indoor events. By December, however, the industry was shut down again and Level 3 put in place.
BEE Events is a service by Belinda to provide an online solution for people who want to celebrate an occasion, a life or host an event in a thoughtful way. “Our aim is to be creative, be inspired and be kind when helping our clients put together an event,” says Belinda. The same care is given for each project, whether you are a corporate client or an individual needing assistance.”
When it comes to weddings, Bee Events brings people together. The bridal party are able to invite relatives from across the globe or country to participate in their day. Belinda can help with sweet ideas, like delivering wedding favours to those watching the ceremony from home. Her service includes a full live stream, bulletin, photo integration and a recording of the day. The same positive energy is given to businesses wanting to promote their products, staff morale or keep in touch with their clients.
Funerals have sadly become a very real part of our existence over the past year, and families are often unsure of the best way to say goodbye to their loved ones. Belinda is there help with a solution to pay tribute and celebrate their lives in a meaningful way while ensuring the technical runs smoothly.
Before we know it, we really do believe that Covid-19 will have a less threatening hold on our lives, but until then, Belinda hopes to help people create something memorable and a service to help with the transition.
