Behind every successful live event is a reliable network! From network topology and VLANs to redundancy and switch configuration, understanding how everything connects is essential. Kyle Freemantle recently brought this knowledge to life, presenting a Network Training course at DWR Distribution in Cape Town.

“The group was engaged and eager to learn,” said Kyle Freemantle. “The session covered the key principles of designing and commissioning reliable networks, including IP addressing, subnet masks, gateways, network topology and redundancy. Most importantly, it highlighted the critical role that robust network infrastructure plays as the backbone of modern event technology. The training went very well; I believe everyone left with the knowledge they need to start implementing effective, reliable networks.”

Johnny Scholtz, Branch Manager at DWR Distribution Cape Town, agrees that the attendees really seemed to enjoy the workshop “So much of what we do today relies on networking, yet people don’t always understand why they need to configure certain protocols or how everything fits together,” said Johnny. “We often work on muscle memory, so it was great to see those lightbulb moments when things started to make sense. There’s always a strong appetite for training in Cape Town, and it was wonderful to welcome familiar faces, as well as an attendee all the way from Namibia’s D&B Audio.”

Thank you to everyone who joined us.
