The SOS Charity Fund is reaching out to the entertainment industry to support Marcell Wahl, a much-loved and respected member of our community, following a devastating accident involving his three-year-old son, Peyton.
The SOS Charity Fund is contributing R10,000 towards the BackaBuddy campaign. “We are appealing to our industry to help in any way possible, whether through a donation or simply by sharing the appeal and spreading the word,” said Duncan Riley, founder of SOS.
This week, Peyton fell into hot water and suffered serious burns to his arms and face. He has needed surgery to lift the damaged skin and clean the burns, and has been admitted to the Burns Unit so that he can receive the best possible care.
Marcell was informed that his medical aid could not cover this incident, leaving the family facing an incredibly difficult situation.
One of Marcell’s friends has taken the initiative to open a BackaBuddy campaign, while colleagues, including Vaughn Marti, have been working tirelessly since Wednesday to spread the word and reach as many people as possible via WhatsApp.
“As a father myself, I can only imagine how stressful this situation must feel and believe that it is only through a collective effort of generosity that will make the difference,” says Vaughn Marti.

The SOS Charity Fund asks our industry community to please take a moment to support Marcell and his family. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will make a difference and help give Peyton access to the treatment and recovery programme he urgently needs.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing the appeal with your colleagues, friends and networks. Together, we can help this family through an incredibly difficult time.
