The 48th edition of the Cape Town Cycle Tour kicked off with around 30 000 riders taking part in either the 109km or 42km race. ULTRA Events Technical Solutions was proud to be part of it, handling the technical setup at the Grand Parade in Cape Town, with the ever-impressive Table Mountain watching over it all.

The Cape Town Cycle Tour, previously known as the Cape Argus Cycle Tour, has come a long way since its early days in 1978. What started as a small, purpose-driven ride made up of around 500 riders to highlight the need for safer cycling routes in Cape Town has grown into one of the world’s most iconic mass-participation cycling events.

As the sun started to rise, the crew of ULTRA Events, under the directorship of Nick of Playground SA, added something special to the start line, using 16 ADJ Hydro Profile fixtures to light up the Cape Town City Hall. It’s not easy to compete with a backdrop like Table Mountain, but this definitely held its own.

The Hydro Profile, part of ADJ’s Hydro Series, is built for real-world conditions. With a strong 660W LED engine, over 25,000 lumens, and an IP65 rating, it’s made to handle whatever comes its way, outdoors or indoors.

Thankfully, the weather behaved beautifully on the day. But even if it hadn’t, the crew was covered. And with features like CMY colour mixing, CTO, and a 7-slot colour wheel, the Hydro Profile continues to prove why it’s such a reliable and effective fixture.

The ULTRA-crew have been involved with the Cape Town Cycle Tour for several years, and it remains a consistent highlight on the ULTRA Events calendar.
