Welcome Keith

20 July 2012

DWR Distribution is delighted to welcome Keith Pugin to our team. He joined us at the start of July 2012 and will assist with Prolyte, manufacturing, sales, installations and Prolyft motors.

Like so many of us, Keith stumbled into this industry. After school he attended the Johannesburg Tech to complete his N1 to N4 (studying motor mechanics), and then joined the telecommunications company, Telkom, for seven years. He had a short stint in Cape Town, working for Multivid, a CCTV manufacturing company, besides serving in the army for a year.

Keith admits that he had never seen a XLR connector when he was offered a position at Prosound. Once there, he grabbed the bull by the horns and worked on some great projects including the installation of the Johannesburg Airport’s Sound System, installations at the Emperor’s Palace, Graceland and the Grand Palm in Botswana. Keith provided sound and lighting to the Sandton Convention Centre and perhaps his most hair raising moment was rigging speakers off a sport stadium roof.

Seven years ago, Keith joined Electrosonic SA. He worked in the systems department and did lighting installations including the manufacture and design of lighting bars, custom steelwork, motor controllers etc. Keith became a product manager for CM Lodestar & Litec Trussing, providing sales and technical support.

“Over the last two years, I planned to start my own business,” said Keith. “Then I decided to come on board at DWR.”

DWR Distribution are very pleased about the decision and hope that Keith has a good and long stay with us. It’s lovely having him here. For those who don’t know, Keith sister, Laura Koen, is also with DWR. “I really get so excited when I look at our team,” commented Duncan Riley. “Everyone gets on so well and I am grateful to be surrounded by such amazing individuals.”

When he has a free moment, Keith  enjoys being creative and his hobbies include woodwork, carving and a love for gadgets and technical toys. Give him a drill and a hammer and you have a happy man!
