DWR Distribution is pleased to announce the Robe Fixture Workshop presented by Steve Eastham, International Customer Support at Robe. If you are in Johannesburg, join DWR from 12 – 14 February 2018. The course will then be presented in Durban from 15 – 19 February, and for those living in Cape Town from 21 – 23 February.
Joining the entertainment lighting industry in 1992, Steve worked for 17 years for Vari-Lit’e Europe’s Technical Support team, managing the department through its transition to VLP after the sale of the Vari-lite brand. Thereafter he moved to PRG before freelancing as a touring technician in 2009. Steve joined Robe to take up his present position in 2012.
Training has become a major part of the international support role as Robe has expanded, new products have been introduced, and new customers have taken up the brand.
The 2 day seminar consists of an introduction to the company and its manufacturing operation, the Robe Robin range and the important differences between Robe fixtures and those of other manufacturers. Steve has written a handbook to accompany the training, and other handout material is supplied.
The first part of the training is PowerPoint based. Fixture calibration and software updating is covered in detail, followed by hands-on training on the range of LED and discharge fixtures, for maintenance and servicing purposes.
Trainees should bring metric tools, consisting of electrical and 8mm flatblade screwdrivers, No.1 and No.2 Philips, 2mm – 8mm allen keys, longnose pliers, wire cutters and small wrenches.
The completion of the course allows candidates access to the protected part of the Robe website, where technical manuals and technical bulletins are listed. Certificates are valid for 2 years after the date of training, but technical center access is permanent.
