Prolyte roof for DNG

06 December 2010

DNG Sound and Audio Visual are first in South Africa to take ownership of a Prolyte Flat Roof. They built it for the first time for the Proudly Bidvest Charity Walk held at The Wanderers held earlier this year where admittedly it took a nerve wrecking day, eyes fixed on the engineering drawings, to build. The roof is becoming a big seller for DNG and for Director Deon Swaak, a dream come true.

Deon has passionately been involved in the industry for the past 18 years. He initially worked for Aurant Communications which in turn merged with DNG in March 2010. Aurant first purchased Prolyte in 2006 for a stand at Auto Africa and for the next show in 2008 purchased an additional 200 meters.

“I always wanted a roof,” Deon explains. With the merge of DNG and Aurant, a sense of enthusiasm was prominent as well as the freedom to try something new. Deon approached co-owner Neal Harvey with a request. If he could “sell” the  concept, namely that of a client incorporating a roof into their event, could they buy a roof. Neal agreed to it.

Having Prolyte truss available, DNG just needed to add a few extra “bits and bobs” and the skin to enable them to build their roof. Initially it took a day to put together, with the team anxiously hoping that the skin would fit the final structure. They have since reduced the timing to around seven hours and should have it down to five by the end of the year.

“I love structures,” said Deon. “The system (Prolyte) is great and very simple. I enjoy the whole way it sets up.” DNG are able to build three different roof sizes and the flexibility of the product enables them to make modifications as needed like adding a door.   The roof as well as new LED screens to their stock list, have enabled DNG to be a one stop shop. They have always taken special care of their corporate market, but here’s looking forward to some exciting outdoor event for the DNG team who really deserve everything of the best for the future.
