Potch Rag, beaming from ear to ear

This year’s concert, held on the 4 and 5 February 2010 at the North-West University, saw performances from Straatling Kinders and Die Heuwels Fantasties, with the lighting and AV provided by MGG Productions. The show incorporated the Robe 700 Beams with control by grandMA.

“The client, C², were absolutely blown away by the Beam 700s,” commented Herman Wessels from MGG. “He said it was the best lighting he had seen in nine years at Potch.”

A zealous fellow, Herman was chuffed to be involved with the design. Experience has taught him that due to business of the stage, which sees various local bands perform, lighting fixtures were all rigged on trussing. Opting for a theatrical LX bar, Herman incorporated a box truss with two loose trusses hung on either side. He, along with crew Deon Kriel and Kevin Rieck, used Secureload slings and steels for safety.

The 6 x Robe 700 Spots, 6 x Robe 700 Washes and 6 x Robe 700 Beams were rigged on the trussing, with control via a grandMA full size and grandMA ultra-light.

This was the first time MGG used their 700s Beams and we’re guessing they’re delighted about this purchase.
