Seen for the first time at PLASA was Doughty Engineering’s innovative motorised lectern, as well as its new and stronger range of truss adaptors.
The unique lectern – the first of its kind – is fully DDA compliant and visitors on the stand were able to try it out for size. Designed and manufactured in the UK, the black powder coated steel lectern is supplied with a reading light and fitted with anti-vibration/ noise dampening microphone mounds to ensure a clear, concise sound from the user.
Mark Chorley, Doughty Engineering’s design engineer said: “This lectern is a real show-stopper and I’m convinced delegates will be amazed by its capabilities. The motorised height adjustment makes this lectern a perfect fit for all. Young children can bring it down to its minimum height, wheelchair users and adults who would be more comfortable sitting to give their presentation can find the perfect height for them, while at its maximum height setting, even the tallest person can stand confidently, without stooping to read their script.” Changing height from its lowest setting of 640mm to its highest of 1150mm is smooth and simple and takes just seconds, eliminating those awkward moments on stage waiting for the lectern to be adjusted and ensuring time is not wasted between speakers.
Mark added: “We all know how nerve wracking it is to stand up in front of a crowd of people, whether it’s a room of ten colleagues or a conference hall of 1000 delegates. The design of this lectern is about ensuring that everyone feels as comfortable and confident as possible when delivering a presentation, lecture or speech.”
Riggers were enticed to the Doughty stand by a brand new range of truss adaptors, designed with the theatre and outdoor events in mind. Made from solid highly tensile aluminium, they fit all major brands of triangular and square truss, enabling it to be lifted into place safely and securely. With a choice of three hanging sizes – 25kg, 500kg and 1000kg, the new truss adaptors are fitted with slim line clamps. The 250kg size comes as either a fixed or swivel version and is available ready fitted with a 28mm Euro spec spigot.
