If you were thinking of things to do in Mbombela, formerly Nelspruit, you would consider visiting the Kruger National Park, having a picnic in the Lowveld National Botanical Garden or going on an adventure at the Sudwala Caves. In the latest breaking news, an ice rink has been built at the i’langa Mall! Rental company AVS Hire created an air of elation with 16 Claypaky Mythos units filling the night sky with beams for the grand opening held from 20th to 23rd September.

“My client asked that I create a big and impressive light show that could be seen for miles around to create excitement for their special occasion,” said Kyle Nel of AVS. “For the main lighting show I used 16 Claypaky Mythos fixtures. As we’ve used these lights on all applications imaginable, the choice was simple. For this show the quantity and attention to detail was key and I knew the capability of the Mythos. To get the desired effect we had to aim for the stars and get creative with movements, strobe effects and chases allowing us to exploit the potent “Beam mode” (sounds like a star trek script) featured in the Mythos.”

Kyle adds that despite being heavy and awkward to move, the Mythos is extremely versatile and smooth in any application from theatre where detail is essential, to effectively filling a venue with fantastic gobo effects, and then of course creating punchy beams and prisms for outdoor shows.

For the Nelspruit community, the recent renovations at i’langa Mall include cinemas, a bowling alley, arcade games, bumper cars, a trampoline park and now an ice-rink, this being a fun and safe environment for families and young people to let their hair down.
