Integrity shine at Tiens

12 November 2009

Arriving in taxis, buses and cars, some 2 500 people from across South Africa attended one of the highlights of their year, the Tiens Annual Convention and Elite Gala Dinner, held on the 7th and 8th November 2009. Tiens offer a range of natural herbal products based on Chinese Medicine and technology and present people an opportunity to receive additional income by selling these products.

Integrity Promotions catered for the entire technical, stage design and décor for the Annual Convention held in the Ballroom at the Sandton Convention Centre and the Gala Dinner held in the Ballroom at Monte Casino.

Dean Fourie, who started Integrity Promotions some six years ago joined forces with thewinwingroup and became their preferred technical supplier. During this period Dean started purchasing and becoming a Robe user. While he has a passion for technology that works, Dean chiefly prides himself on service and providing clients with peace of mind as they trust him to pull of one successful event after the other. Dean has been heard saying, “We don’t do events, we amplify stories.” 3D Drawings with much discussions and advice ensured that both Tiens and Integrity Promotions were on the same page and in addition the services of Sound Stylists were called in for further equipment and support.

Annual Convention

The Convention area, which included a new product launch, saw a centre stage with 65 Floating cubes hung as a backdrop and the stage lit with 24 x LED parcans. The stage included a back truss on which 4 x Robe 250s were rigged. The front truss comprised of 6 x Robe 575 Washes and 6 x Robe 575 Spots. A further 48 x LED Powerbacks were used to light the audience.  On the stage were 4 x Robe 136 LED Washes and 4 x Robe 170 Spots. Pyros and confetti canons were incorporated for special effects.

Elite Gala Event

The Elite Gala Dinner focussed on an entertainment and extravaganza theme. Careful consideration was given to the audience, with dancers being fully clothed. Beats from the Drum Café added to the festivities.

The stage included a podium, goal post truss, 18 floating cubes, and a branded banner as the backdrop. “This differentiation is very important for the Chinese Culture,” explains Dean. “Seated at the VIP table were the GM of Tiens Southern Africa, Mr Kevin Hou, as well as the ambassador from the Chinese Embassy.”

Projection equipment included two 12 x 9 screens with projection via two 4 000 ANSI Lumen projectors. Projection was controlled by the Kramer727, two hi-spec laptops, and the Arkaos VJ program for special AV effects.

Lighting included 4 x Robe 170 Spots and two Robe 136 LED Washes on the stage. 2 x Robe 136 LED Washes and six LED panels were rigged on trussing above the stage. 4 x Robe 250 Spots were placed on quad truss totems around the room. Lighting at the gala dinner was controlled using the Jands Hog500 lighting consol.

This was another unbeaten event by Integrity Promotions. Dean would like to extend special thanks to Jo Metter his right hand assistant who runs the office and deals with quotes and to Alex Constantinou for his hands on approach on the technical side.
