DWR Distribution has received an overwhelming response from our latest gadget, the Gidgit.
“We gave out a bunch at Mediatech, but lots of guys are now asking for them,” said Robert Izzett from DWR Distribution, referring to the rather amazing tool that is perfect for lighting techs. It fits most Wing nuts,1/4 Turn Wing Bolts, M10 Nuts, M12 Nuts, Square nuts and so forth. It has also ended up being the ideal tool for focussing lights.
The DWR team, who all put their heads together for this one, had initially seen a similar gizmo overseas and decided to change the design to adjust it to be suitable and helpful for riggers here.
Then it was time to give it a name. They thought of “Wing It” or “The Tool”, but it was eventually Dan Riley who came up with “Gidgit”.
“For only R50 it’s a bonus,” says Robert Izzett. “We are not making them for the money, but rather like a piece of swag people are willing to pay for.”
