Meet our UK born Australian, Pete Floyd. We asked if he would be kind enough to return some stray South Africans home with him when visiting Mediatech next week. He could only guarantee a dozen kangaroos.
Nick asked: “How did you get into the industry?”
I started out when I was 16 working in a club, having to lie about my age and experience to get the position. I quickly learnt the basics and got to work lighting some very dubious cabaret performers of the day. But it was tremendous fun!
Dave asked: “What is your pet hate about the industry?”
Hangovers!
Derek asked: “What is the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?”
Selling up in the UK and moving to Australia! What a great adventure it turned out to be.
Cherine asked: “What is your most impressive international event / project?”
There have been a lot throughout the years but by far the most impressive was a private house in Saudi Arabia owned by one of the richest people in the world. It was the biggest moving truss and lighting rig you could ever imagine in a dining room!
Amanda: “If you could live anywhere in the world, what country would you choose and why?”
Probably Australia where I am now, very safe place to live, fantastic lifestyle, great weather and wonderful wine!
Duncan asked: “Are you here for work or for wine?”
Absolutely for work, but if there is any going then I’d be happy to compare it against our Aussie Reds!
Sherryn asked: “Could you name one of your little pleasures in life?”
I can name two – My Fender Stratocaster and watching my son teaching these Aussies a thing or two about playing football!
