Alan “AJ” Jesse
ESP Vision
Director of Marketing & Support
From Vegas meet AJ, a man who is passionate about poker, flying and the industry. He will be in South Arica for Mediatech.
Dan asked: “Did you plan your life in the industry or was it by default?”
“It was totally by accident. In fact, I look back on my career, and wonder how in the world did I ever get here? But I love it, and really enjoy it, so I guess it all works out in the end.”
Nick asked: “What is the most awkward situation you’ve been in – work related that is?”
“A few years back, we were testing out the Vision profile for the LSD Icon against the actual fixture. The LD wasn’t paying a lot of attention to where the “real” fixture was aimed, because he was looking at the Vision screen. Suddenly, we began smelling smoke. Apparently, a tightly focused Icon pointed at a road case at 1 meter can cause that road case to blaze up. Lesson learned.”
Dave asked: “Do you have any interests / hobbies outside the industry?”
“I am an avid poker player, and a private pilot. Though, I don’t get to fly as much as I would like. I did get to play in the World Series of Poker Main Event a few years back. I didn’t win, but it was a lot of fun.”
Cherine asked: “What is your most impressive international event / project?”
“We were involved in the Opening/Closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. I spent some time in China in preparation of that amazing event.”
Pumi asked: “What is your favourite product of all time?”
“That’s not a fair question. I have to work with ALL the products. If I have to pick one, the others will be unhappy. So, suffice it to say, I have my favourites and my “not so much” favourites, and we’ll just leave it at that… haha!”
Amanda: “If you could live anywhere in the world, what country would you choose and why?”
“I hope that this doesn’t simply underscore the stereo-type of Americans, but I live in Las Vegas, in the US. I couldn’t think of a place that would be more enjoyable anywhere in the world. Granted, I enjoy many cities and countries around the globe, but you just can’t beat the ol’ USA (well, at least not VEGAS, baby!!)
Duncan asked: “Are you here for work or for wine?”“Hey, if I can get a little of both, then it is a win/win, right?”
