“Our decision to go with the Absen brand was, in short, a no brainer,” said Wynand Veldsman from Eventech. “We did months of research, considering the pros and cons on the vast variety of products out there, but in the end, it all came down to DWR and Absen.  Absen is a market leader and we could not overlook the local product support and after sales service delivered by DWR. To have LED support 24/7/365 is key in this industry.”

The new Absen panels had no sooner arrived at Eventech and they were eagerly taken out of wooden crates, placed into flightcases and sent off to Durban. Three days later, the crew built a 100sqm screen at the Durban International Convention Centre. “The screens have since been used non-stop, from creating narrow LED strips to large formats, diamond shapes and other crazy ideas for both indoor and outdoor events,” comments Wynand. “Absen has unlocked a fresh breath of creativity for the Eventech team.”

As Eventech is an ambitious company catering for a diverse range of projects from exhibitions to outdoor concerts, corporate events and music and dance productions, the flexibility offered by Absen was a key selling point. “The panels cater for it all, with features that stand out including Concave/Convex, indoor/outdoor, great brightness and greyscale, not to mention the weight and ease of servicing the panels. The cross compatibility of the 1000mm x 500mm and 500mm x 500mm panels makes them dynamic on setups. The bulk of our panels are the 1000mm x 500mm and this has made setup much more efficient – two panels instead of four per square metre, halving the cabling and time.”

In conclusion, Wynand adds, “It has been a great journey with the DWR team on this project. Thank you to Schalk Botha and Bruce Riley for the impeccable service support, and to Duncan Riley for guiding us through the whole process and ensuring all the deadlines were met with the small timeline we had.”
