Stage Effects go LED

08 February 2010

If the units were running full time 24 hours a day then these LEDs would last 5.7 years. We are talking about the REDWash 3•192, and Stage Effects have purchased four of the powerful fixtures.

“The LED hours may even outlive me,” says Theo, owner of Stage Effects. “We waited a long time before going the LED way, but I’m excited that I did.”

Duncan Riley from DWR Distribution says that 50 000 hours would usually amount to 66 discharge lamp changes. “This, however, would never happen because the electronics would fail first,” he says.

Working mostly on broadcast and concert productions, Theo was on the lookout for washes in the 700W range and dropped by DWR Distribution to find out what was available.

The REDWash 3•192 are huge LED wash lights with high output at less power consumption. “I like the output, the rich colours, the weight, power consumption, the LED hours and the t-shirt you get with it,” says Theo.

The moving lights are based on RED Technology (Robe Emitted Diodes) series. They provide a rectangular light field with a narrow beam spread and are a unique and fresh approach to concert touring.

Stage Effects believe that with the FIFA World Cup ahead, and 2009 behind, this year will be made up of exciting times complimented with amazing fixtures.
