For nearly two decades, South Africa’s longest Gospel movement, Joyous Celebration, has spread the word through powerful musical worship.
On the 15th December 2012, the 17th Joyous Celebration DVD was recorded at Rhema Church in Johannesburg.
This respected project was made possible with the help of a great technical team comprising of different companies.
ATTV provided and managed all the visual graphics and final DVD editing while sound, staging and 6x Clay Paky Sharpies were supplied by Sound Headquarters. The lighting rig and screens was supplied by EPH Productions. The entire show attended by 5000 audience was recorded on HD cameras; supplied by Malaphati. Wizardry Group was briefed to supply a lighting system that needed to look good on any camera from any angle and to keep the set alive!
It was also Wizardry Groups’ responsibility to integrate all the video images with the lighting cues to create one seamless show of visually pleasing scenes…for this Francois van der Merwe requested the GrandMA Video Processing Unit which he loved for its graphic and processing power. “It rocks and is so stable and reliable!” was van der Merwe’s comment.
Van der Merwe was commissioned to design the lighting for the event but as he also took control of running the LED visuals off MA Touch PC. Wizardry Group collaborated with Joshua Cutts (Visual Frontier) to integrate his MA Touch PC onto the same network and to operate the lighting. “This is the awesomeness of grandMA technology,” commented van der Merwe. “Plug and play is so easy with MA”
Lighting rig and LED screens were supplied by EPH Productions. “Wizardry Group are amazing and professional,” commented Leon Pheiffer from EPH Productions. “My team also enjoyed working with them.”
EPH Productions took ownership of 12 brand new Robin 100 LED Beams, purchased for the show, to compliment the 64 strong moving light rig. “And now we use them all the time,” said Pheiffer. “They are so small, versatile and low in power. They also punched through the LED wall on this gig. They are bright enough to do the job and they are fast.”
For the screens, 240 x 12mm LED mesh was used. “The pros arch was completely curved all the way from the back around to the other side,” commented Pheiffer. “The back centre screen was a 6m wide with two 5m wide screens on each side.”
