“One of the huge advantages of working on a rig with mostly one brand makes programming and designing simpler and easier to implement during a short period of time,” commented Sushil Patidar, owner and technical director of Bass Mechanics.

“Time is always a challenge and as a lighting designer, we only have a certain amount of it to ensure all pre-planning is complete. The grandMA console, which ran through Nexus DMX Artnet, helped greatly with both implementing our vision and utilizing the rig to its full potential,” says Ravi Paima, lighting designer at the event.

The lighting system included 12 Robe LEDBeam 100, 12 Robe Pointes, 12 Robe LEDWash 600 and 12 Robe ColorSpot 700 AT. In addition, there were 8 Phillips Selecon SPX 15-35 zoom Profiles and 2 Le Maitre MVS Hazers.

“Robe fixtures, being one of the best brands in the world, have always been a pleasure to work with,” added Ravi. “And never underestimate the power of the little Robe LEDBeam 100! These are super powerful and add to the ‘stun factor’ of a lighting rig. This being said, the lovely beam of the Robe Pointe placed strategically in a V design, added another level to the experience of the show.”

The use of rich colours was imperative to Ravi. “It was as important to us as beam work, and we used colour very carefully to work on the emotion of the audience. The Robe LEDWash 600 certainly had the impact we envisioned when creating the design.”
