Reaching the architectural market with Vectorworks, DWR Distribution exhibited at the Digital Construction expo held at the Gallagher Convention Centre on 23 and 24 May 2017. The show, which co-located with the African Construction and Totally Concrete Expo, enjoyed a tremendous turnout.

“It was the first time that we’ve exhibited in this kind of environment as we accessed the architectural market and pushed Vectorworks,” said Johnny Scholtz of DWR. “While the use of Vectorworks is not widespread in the South African architectural market, it’s really big in Europe and the United States. The show was attended by many students, who gave us good feedback as they experimented with the software on our stand. We also made great contacts with architects and project managers. There were a lot of people and it really was very busy.”

Also manning the stand was Vectorworks specialist, Francois van der Merwe, and DWR’s Dylan Jones. “I thought the expo was very successful, said Francois. “The younger designers and architects, particularly, could see thse potential of Vectorworks in their market. They were very excited about what the product could do for them. Everyone liked the fact that it was all in one as they currently used three to four different programmes.”

Dylan Jones agrees. “I really enjoyed the show,” he said. “We were very happy to educate students of the next generation about Vectorworks. Many people are stuck in their drafting application and I think their eyes were opened to the user-friendly features Vectorworks has to offer.”

Having an impressive attendance register, DWR were grateful to have made a decision to exhibit at the Digital Construction expo. “We’ve made people aware of Vectorworks and we’ll try keep the momentum going,” said Johnny. “At next year’s show, we plan to promote our other architectural products such as lighting and control.”
