A new Pole Operated Yoke is set to be the star attraction on the Doughty Engineering stand at this year’s BVE show. The company has chosen BVE as the platform from which to launch their latest piece of kit since it is set to be of particular benefit to the film and TV industry. Visitors to stand D39 will also get the opportunity to see a wide range of items on display, including the award winning Modular Rigging System as well as a selection of grip, rigging, suspension and lifting equipment.
Julian Chiverton, sales director at Doughty commented: “We’re looking forward to another successful year at BVE and are particularly excited to be launching our latest product at this year’s show. We believe that our customers in the broadcast industry will really reap the benefits of the Pole Operated Yoke, which, like many of our products has been designed to make life easier for the user – which is extremely necessary in the fast paced world of film and TV.”
The new piece of kit is modular in design and as such can be made exactly to customer specification from existing stock – hence a quick turnaround between order and delivery. Designed to stretch and shorten to fit any sized light, the yoke is fitted to a light with two cups which pan and tilt – and being pole operated, this enables the operator to make any adjustments from the ground, taking away the need to have ladders cluttering up the set and posing potential safety hazards.
Doughty will also be showing its new Atom-G Clamp – the latest addition to the popular Atom Clamp family which has been designed specifically for architectural luminaires, as well as its Space Saver – a nifty new piece of kit which allows a clamp or spigot to be permanently fitted to a luminaire or projector and folded into a storage position to save space. “We’re excited to see what people think of the Space Saver once they see it in the flesh – if social media reactions are anything to go by, we’re confident it will be a big hit,” said Julian.
Doughty’s Articulated Carriage which makes it possible to move scenery panels on Doughty’s Studio Rail curves will also feature on the stand and the team looks forward to gathering as much feedback as possible.
Julian continued: “As we continue to work more closely with the broadcast industry and see our customer base in this sector increase, we are on a continual learning curve. Shows like BVE are invaluable to us – it’s where we get the opportunity to find out what boxes our products need to tick to make them invaluable pieces of kit. Feedback is essential to our R&D team and we look forward to gathering opinion on the yoke and of course finding out what other products are on our customers’ wish list that we have the potential to develop.”
