Showgroup used 4 Robe BMFLS for Rocking the Koppies, an intimate event hosted on a farm in Potchefstroom. Control was on an Avolites Tiger Touch II.

“This was a private function for a fiftieth birthday party and included performances by Prime Circle, Just Jinjer and Mean Mr Mustard,” said Andries Liebenberg from Showgroup, lighting designer at the celebration.

The gobos on the BMFL casts a clear, crisp image. Four units, erected on the roof front, were used to create special effects on the surrounding “koppies” (hills). The client was over the moon.

“The BMFL is an amazing light,” said Andries. He has since hired the units regularly from MJ Event Gear, usually four at a time, even incorporating them into smaller indoor shows.

“As a tip to some of the Lampies out there, it’s more expensive to hire in draping for clients than painting a wall with gobos and making the venue wall part of the design. The BMFL is remarkable for stretched tents or marquees. It makes the inside and outside come to life. The BMFL can also be used as a search light as we did for an SA Model television show; it really looked great.”

Programming was on an Avolites Tiger Touch II’. “I enjoy all the Avolites consoles,” said Andries. “They are wonderful to work on and fast to get around. With the new software update, it makes your life that much easier.”
